The launch of the MINI London 2012 Edition to celebrate the Olympic Games neatly pulls together two of MINI’s marketing tactics; shove out as many limited edition models as you can and give them a London theme. True, this edition of the MINI uses the London moniker intact instead of using a badge from a London area, but it’s consistent with the current MINI special edition target. As is MINI’s aim to cash in on any bit of publicity it can – sometimes tenuously – get a hook on.

Seat showed its prototype Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive today at its technical centre near Barcelona. The finished petrol-electric hybrid is expected in showrooms by 2014. The new hybrid Leon uses Twin Drive with power generated by an electric motor for shorter, urban trips while, for longer drives, the car seamlessly switches to an internal combustion engine.
Chevrolet unveiled two stylish concepts at the 2012 Detroit auto show. One, the Tru 140S, was a bit of a poser -- its exotic looks belied its hypothetical low price point and its front-wheel-drive underpinnings. The boxy red Code 130R, on the other hand, had the potential to be dynamite.
